WHIMSY'S ARCADE:

Video and audio whimsicalities.

Local media personalities and dear friends Mark and Audrey had Lady P and I out for a Philly jaunt a few weeks ago to film an installment of their charming ongoing series previously known as Cheap Dates, now dubbed Illadates. For those both familiar and unfamiliar with Philadelphia, it's an informative and entertaining exploration of the charms and pleasures found in the many neighborhoods that lie beyond the city's touristy center. Milling through their older episodes is both fun and worthwhile.

We'd like to thank Mark and Audrey for a lovely afternoon, and for giving us an excuse to revisit some of our favorite Philadelphia haunts. Click the picture above to view the video. Crepe aroma not included.

Woodshop Films presents a series called "Mein Haus", which features the homes of various people in and around Philadelphia. In this episode, I give you a tour of my home, the Greenhouse.

BBC Ulster Radio: Arts Extra piece on dandyism by Stephen O'Hagan

Arte TV in Europe interviewed me in New York, just before my West Coast book tour last December. The "Tracks" program, which also featured New Yorkers Debbie Harry, Sonic Youth and the Beastie Boys, aired in Europe this past February. Click the image above to download a .wmv video file of the nonsense that took place. I'll freely admit that my tie knot is atrocious through much of my interview, but in my defense I should add that few knots can withstand the strain of bearing my huge forehead through the streets of lower Manhattan for hours on end. Friends James, Evan, Mike, Alex and Cator also make guest appearances. (Many thanks to my friend Monsieur D. for supplying this file.)

A book tour video postcard! You are invited to swoon over the vertiginous footage of your host being whisked about the gulp-inducing hills of San Francisco upon the back of his good friend Robert's zippy silver Vespa scooter! (Also found on YouTube. Music by the Would-Be-Goods.)

Whimsy visits the hallowed halls of WFMU and enjoys an hour-long, on-air conversation with Kenny G and Irwin Chusid. My sincerest thanks to both Kenny and Irwin for their kindness and hospitality! (Broadcast date: Sept. 27, 2006)

Back by popular demand: the original Whimsy home movie,
a relic of more innocent days. Tiny and juicy, like a blueberry.

A fairly inept live reading of "Green, The Color Divine" at Lehigh University, November 2004

Thus, at last I provide conclusive proof that I am, in fact, the illegitimate son of Wallace Shawn. Enjoy at my considerable expense.
