Metrolit Verlag’s Edition of The Affected Provincial’s Companion Vol. I

The German edition of my first book arrived today. It’s quite handsome: Metrolit Verlag did a beautiful job with the crisp design. My thanks to Barbel and everyone at Metrolit!

  1. Parnassus says:

Congratulations on your German edition. I am in the middle of experiencing the English one–it is quite a ride!

  2. Fiona says:

It looks thick! Is there new content, or is it just the result of translating into German?

  3. Lord Whimsy says:

German makes everything thicker: words, beer, sausages, necks, etc.

  4. Lord Whimsy says:

Enjoy: It’s a ridiculous book, yeah. Amazed anyone would make a translation. Thrilled, of course.

  5. I just got a copy as a surprise from a friend and have enjoyed reading every sentence so far. I guess I would have preferred the English original, but as far as I can tell the translator has done a very good job; must have been quite a challenge.

And by the way, on the idea that German makes everything thicker (@ Lord Whimsy, November 13): I think it were Americans who invented XXXL sizes and, if I am not mistaken, there are relatively many more obese people, SUVs, shotguns etc. etc. in the US.
